In December 2013, the Recording Academy (the Grammy's) announced that Mr. Clifton Chenier (the King of Zydeco Music) will be a 2014 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, one of its Special Merit Awards. Clifton Chenier was previously recognized by the Recording Academy when he was awarded a Grammy Award in 1983 for his album "I'm Here".
This is a special invitation-only ceremony that will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, the day before the 56th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California. C.J. Chenier, the son of Clifton Chenier will be accepting the award on behalf of his father. Your Zydeco Lady, Lola Love, Rod Sias, founder of the Zydeco Historical and Preservation Society and ZydecoOnline, and cousin of C.J. Chenier, and Gabriel Lewis Photography will attend the ceremony as special guest of C.J. Chenier.
