Funeral Services Set For Community Leader Faye Brown-Blackwell

Funeral services have been set for Faye Brown-Blackwell, the local community leader, educator, businesswoman, activist and politician, who passed away last week at the age of 72.
Brown-Blackwell served on the Lake Charles City Council, co-founded the local Martin Luther King Coalition and was president of KZWA Radio.
On Friday, KZWA will host "an evening of remembrance" starting at 7 p.m. at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 119 N. Banks St. The event will feature expressions and musical tributes in Brown-Blackwell's honor.
The funeral service is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 1800 Country Club Road. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. The funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Rev. Freddie G. Brown will officiate.
A final processional is set for after the funeral service. The processional will pass the KZWA Studios at the north end of Enterprise Boulevard near Interstate 10. Mrs. Blackwell's family is inviting individuals who would like to pay their final respects to line the streets of Enterprise Blvd the KZWA studios at 12:30 p.m.
The funeral motorcade is expected to pass and stop in front of the station for a brief moment of silence before continuing to her final resting place at Combre's Memorial Park.
