The Lebeau Zydeco Festival celebrates its 26th year starting at noon Saturday at the Lebeau church grounds located off Highway 71, a half mile south of Stelly's Supermarket.
The festival's 25th edition honored Rockin' Sidney Simien, who was born in Lebeau. He attended Immaculate Conception School from first through 12th grade and is buried in the town cemetery.
The festival, which is sponsored by Lebeau Catholic Church, features entertainers that include Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, Brian Jack, Lil Nate and the Zydeco Big Timers, and Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws. DJ Super J will also provide entertainment.
Gates open on the church grounds at 10:30 a.m. with Delafose hitting the stage at 12, according to event organizer Joseph Irving. Jack follows Delafose from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by Lil Nate from 4 to 6 p.m. and Step Rideau and Zydeco Outlaws finish the day from 6 to 8 p.m.
"People can expect lots of good music and good food," Irving added.
Vendors still have an opportunity to rent craft booths at Saturday's event for $100 each. T-Shirts will be sold for $12
