The Broussard Endowment will host the first annual Crawfish Open Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Hermann Park in Houston, Texas.

Many in the Zydeco Nation know the Broussard Endowment from it's annual Creole Heritage Zydeco and Crawfish Festival held every year during the month of April/May in Baytown, Texas.

Sadly, the last Creole Heritage Zydeco and Crawfish Festival was held on April 25th and 26th, 2014.  During the Creole Heritage Zydeco and Crawfish Festival's 10 year run, the event has attracted some 30,000 people from all over the country including; Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, California, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut and has raised over $75,000.00 to support Houston students through scholarships and financial assistance and aided displaced students from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with critical financial support and assistance.

Shannon Broussard, director of the Broussard Endowment stated that moving on from the Creole Heritage Zydeco and Crawfish Festival was a "difficult decision to make because the traditional Creole family atmosphere and bonds developed over 10 years. However, we felt that we had to allow the fundraiser to develop and evolve while holding on to the core Creole values that Creole Heritage Zydeco and Crawfish Festival personified.  The Crawfish Open will allow the Broussard Endowment to increase is fund raising potential by appealing to those with the financial means and interest in supporting the Broussard Endowment, while holding on to and continually developing the grassroots, family atmosphere, and community support that has kept the Broussard Endowment relevant in the Houston Community."

The Crawfish Open is a unique Golf Tournament featuring a Two Person Scramble where the golfers are asked to wear their Wildest Golf Clothing and Most Outrageous Hats. All of this fun will happen while we play a serious tournament for the Coveted Crystal Crawfish Trophy. There will be plenty of prizes and surprises along the way. At the end of the tournament you can enjoy a Huge Crawfish Boil and Zydeco Party as we announce the winners.

Paul Jr. and the Zydeco Nubreedz will be golfing in the Crawfish Open with local celebrities such as Hall of Fame athletes Elvin Bethea, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Calvin Murphy, and Moses Malone.  In addition of some great golfing, and zydeco music, there will be lots of delicious crawfish at the Zydeco Cafe at 3:00pm.

According to Shannon Broussard, the 1st Annual Crawfish Open is dedicated to the memory of Stanley Broussard who was known as Uncle Junior. "My Uncle Jr. taught me the game of golf and so many other things. My Dads oldest brother was one of my true heroes, and I want everyone to come out and enjoy some great golfing, free crawfish and live zydeco music!
