Yes, Zydeco Nation, we are well into the year 2010, and Festival and Trailride Season is underway! While many people will attend at least Zydeco Festival, Church Bazaar, or Trailride with family and friends, there is one proud fact that everyone in the Zydeco Nation should remember.
Although there are a few Zydeco Festivals that are organized strictly and solely as an event for personal profit, the vast majority of Creole/Zydeco Festivals, Church Bazaars and Fairs, and Trailrides in the Zydeco Nation are fundraisers for worthy causes organized and supported by churches, organizations, local businesses, and volunteers who donate their time, resources, and creative talents to keep the Zydeco Nation proud and strong!
The 6th Annual Creole Heritage Zydeco & Crawfish Festival is one of festivals in the Zydeco Nation that upholds and continues the fine tradition of grassroots philanthropic work as a major fundraiser for The Broussard Endowment Fund, while providing a setting that has become a flash point for the Creole Heritage of Southwest Louisiana and Texas as well as great environment for people of all ages!
This year's Creole Heritage Zydeco & Crawfish Festival will take place on April 9th -10th, 2010 at the San Jacinto Mall in Baytown, Texas(Located on Garth Road at I-10 East). This year's festival will include two large covered stages, dance Floors, dance lessons with Mona "Zydeco Queen Wilson, the talented Zydeco and Creole bands, along with delicious Creole food like Gumbo, Boudin and Etouffe.

The Creole Heritage Zydeco & Crawfish Festival was originally founded in 2004 as a fundraiser for Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School located in the 5th Ward and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School of Houston , Texas. The Broussard Endowment was created and expanded to assist inner city Catholic Schools and has helped hundreds of school aged children with scholarships and funded a variety of worthy school based projects.
The Broussard Endowment has also aided school sports programs by partnering with other businesses and donors to provide new uniforms and equipment, and assisted displaced students and families during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, by providing tuition and as well as school uniforms and supplies. Since its inception, The Broussard Endowment has raised over $75,000.00 through small grassroots donations that have gone directly to those in need.
