Prescription medications are usually beneficial to people of all generations. However, prescription medications may also be dangerous, if you abuse prescription medications or fail to take them correctly.

Can You Read This Prescription?

Here are a few tips to double check your prescriptions:

IS YOUR NAME CORRECT ON BOTH THE PRESCRIPTION AND MEDICAL BOTTLE
If you have a name such as Bob Jones or Mary Smith, ask the pharmacist to include your middle initial.

•   IS THE NAME OF THE MEDICATION CORRECT?
Some drug names are very similar but treat very different medical conditions, like Norvasc and Navane.

IS THE DOSAGE THE SAME AS WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TOLD YOU?

•   ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS UNDERSTANDABLE?
Doctors and Pharmacists sometimes communicate in Latin. Keep a mini-dictionary nearby to look up words you may not understand or recognize.
