Zydeco Nation,
We at The Zydeco Historical & Preservation Society are very sorry and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Father A.J. McKnight, a true pastor, mentor to many, and true friend of the poor and African American community.
In this time of painful sorrow and grief we should remember that "ALL SOLDIERS MUST GO HOME," and Father A.J. McKnight was indeed a true soldier.
As you know, Father A.J. McKnight was a soldier for economic and social justice.
As you know, he was a soldier for African-American political empowerment and economic development
As you know, Father A.J. McKnight was a soldier for racial justice.
As you know, he was a soldier for the preservation and promotion of Creole culture.
As you know, Father A.J. McKnight was a soldier for the leadership development African-American boys and men.
As you know, he was a soldier for the spiritual development African-American families.
As you know, he was a soldier for the adoption of African-American kids by African-American families.
Father A.J. McKnight was a spiritual giant, a teacher, a true friend, and inspiration to many of us, and his passing is a big cross to bear.
To his family, who carried the long burden of sharing Father A.J. McKnight and his spiritual, social, and economic movement with the world, our love and sympathy are with you at this dark and empty hour.
We must soldier on to honor our pastor, mentor and friend.
May Father A.J. McKnight rest in peace and may we all find comfort in recalling his greatness and the role he played in our lives.
Love and peace from the ZHPS.
